Meaning it as a compliment doesn’t erase your lack of other-awareness. It’s a self-serving compliment, meant to place yourself where you want to be disregarding the others existence and identity. Why would that ever feel like a genuine compliment?

One of my pups actively called my friend "Daddy." It got uncomfortable, and he had to be told off, so yes. Check and make sure the person you're offering a title like that to is okay with it.
I get called Daddy and I'm only 26 and it's wild. There's like one person who in okay with calling me Daddy and that's because he ASKED if it was okay. But randos in the internet popping in and saying that? Weird me out.
I have a similar thing about being called "boy" but that's a different story
The “boy” thing applies too. There are plenty of negative, borderline racial contexts to that word if used incorrectly. Using one’s words and asking considerate questions should not be so impossible.
