It would be so easy. Zero out all the pucks flat on the ice before the game. You could pinpoint exactly when the puck changes direction, and if the height of that change is 4' or under, it's a goal.
Exactly. Every sport has a similar example. The NHL used to be at the forefront of this stuff back in the FoxTrax days. They're so inept now it's not even funny
Man I made fun of FoxTrax back then because it was pretty cheesy, but can you imagine what they could do with today's technology? And being fair it was still pretty innovative, but like shining through the near boards was a bit weird lol
I don't think the dinosaurs in charge trust the tech at all. But it would be correct more often than guessing based on 5 different camera angles that don't really show anything conclusive
