It's exactly what is about to happen. And some of the universities at risk may not be the ones you'd expect.

This is important to recognize for the disaster befalling Ontario universities under Doug Ford. Laurentian University has no Physics program, no Political Science program, no Philosophy. You can't really call it a university anymore.

And this is about to happen at more institutions.

Fair. It depends on which lens is being used. For example, most of us would say that the flight of the most experienced hospital nurses in Ontario from their positions is a failure of the Ford govt but it's clear that exodus serves it in some way given a total lack of effort to retain them. 1/2

Thru the filter of getting elected though, Ford's failures in HC, education, housing, etc., mean he has to rely on distraction & the fortuity of Donald Trump's chaos & economic threats to distract, fire up & reorient voters.

Ford will eventually have to pay the piper for his asset-stripping. 2/2

You've got it backward Wally, the same thing has happened to public schools. Govts have been cutting funding (or not increasing for inflation) so both schools and universities have been forced to make up shortfalls through international students. Now that rug is being pulled due to housing issues.
