Several years ago one of our old Longleaf Pines got struck by lightning. Soon after, pine beetles moved in and finished the job. Rather than cut it down at ground level, we left about 10-12’ for wildlife habitat. Our Brown Headed Nuthatches love it so much!! 🥰
