Would be curious to know if you ever played The Journey mode in some of the older FIFA games where you played as a specific character dealing with the ups and downs of trying to make it as a football pro, and how/where they'd fit into this framework.

never played The Journey! instead I think I had NBA 2K MyCareer in mind, and how it's getting worse and blander every year especially now

The Journey also got less interesting over time, because the first year you were playing as a teenager dealing with regular life outside football, but by the third year you were an international superstar haggling over sponsorships.
