In my frustration with the suggestion of Maalox, my wording here was profoundly unclear and some things we're just left out. My apologies. Flush your eyes with bottled water or saline, and use these wipes for your skin.

With standard sudecon you squeeze liquid directly into the eyes. With these homemade wipes, close the eyes and direct the face upward and squeeze the liquid from them onto the CLOSED EYELIDS and wipe from the eye area downward toward the cheek and then outward, keeping the eyes closed.

Water. You need water, preferably distilled water. Do not put Maalox, milk, or anything else in your eyes that’s just as likely to give you an eye infection or cause irritation and make it worse. Gargle water first before swallowing anything.

It is not formulated to be sterile so it introduces new bacteria to the eye which can cause serious infection. It is also high alkalinity whereas the surface of the eye is not and that difference in pH can cause irritation more severe and long term than the irritants folks want to treat with it.

Also it can cause severe vision blurring, and if somebody is wearing contacts, that could be even worse. The last time somebody sprayed Maalox in my eyes, I couldn't see clearly for an hour and a half. Last time I got maced and flushed with water I could see again within 10 minutes.

In situations with tear gas or pepper spray in the eyes, Maalox does more to harm than it does to help. You want to put it on their skin? Fine, get their consent first.

But please- don't pour or spray the fake milk full of magnesium and aluminum into people's fuckin eyeballs.
