respectfully, this is every major villain of the "Z" portion of Dragon Ball doesn't make it fantastic, but it's consistent with aspects that people like in Dragon Ball. The rush of Dragon Ball is the attempt to rise to the challenge. Some people, like myself, love to see that struggle. - ThreadSky

That's just not true though. That isn't what happened with Vegeta, Freeza was a series of transformations that lead to multiple characters switching out until Goku went SSJ, then the fight dragged out as they both took damage until the final conflict, Cell only had a LITTLE of that against Goku...

And Kid Buu is the only example of a character who just kept wearing out the others while they tried to figure out a way to beat him, and that still involved its own level of variety.

(I wanna be clear, I LOVE most of the Freeza fight. But when you get down to it it's just a series of alternating curbstomps, and rarely even pretends to be otherwise)

Yes, Freeza was playing with his food. But the first three forms were them holding out until Goku was healed. Furthermore, Piccolo showed up at form 2 and did some real damage. ... and then Toriyama straight up made him stand still while Freeza transformed again. 🙄

When Goku finally gets out, it's a lot of ramp up with us watching him trying harder and harder to find a way to beat him, only for despair to grow as we see just how outclassed he really is. Finally, he settles on the genki dama, but that ultimately doesn't work either. Then we get SSJ.

I mean, by the end of the fight it's clear Freeza could absolutely have *dusted* the party on a whim if he'd wanted to, he just didn't want to. And that's fine, that's not a plothole! He says straight up at the outset that he's less interested in killing them than in making them suffer...

Yeah there really isn’t that much of a difference here between Super Vegeta’s Final Flash against Cell and SSJ3 Vegeta’s Final Flash against Gomah. Both appear to have done something, and then the opponent just heals it anyway

I supposed the one major difference is that with Cell it was the second thing Vegeta did during their short skirmish, instead of coming after 2 and a half full episodes of group fights.

I still don’t think it’s that much of an issue (compared to other more glaring issues in Daima) but still valid
