The Larry Marks wormhole leads, inevitably, to a larger examination of the 1960s output of A&M Records, which, with one or two exceptions--I have difficulty with Chris Montez--is about as unimpeachable and obsession-worthy as it gets.
Great to see Chad and Jeremy get a bit of attention. Their nerdy look and posh names didn't really help with the marketing (though the Zombies looked just the same back then, of course).
What strikes me about The Ark is the amazing production, lush inventiveness and sheer variety of sounds for a 1968 recording. The White Album, say, sounds totally clunky/tinny and cheap by comparison.
