Can you explain why it's a misleading chart?

The chart is misleading in the shown distances. Most years it is only a few percent difference between red and blue votes and it is visually exaggerated as if it was twice as many r-votes

A few percentages is incredibly significant in politics. Trump won by, what, 2%? Now we're losing democracy.
It's not misleading to zoom in to show the variance over the years.

Even if the data is true (i guess it is) - with this chart you make it look like a lie. Thats my point.

It is if you're using a bar graph. The point of a bar graph is to use the areas to show relative proportions.

Can you show us where this chart shows the Democrats winning white voters after 1964?

No cause that hasn’t happened. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a misleading chart.

We should be more concerned about the underlying data:
White people have consistently voted to overturn civil rights for 60 years.
That’s more important than quibbling over whether a chart is perfectly drawn to scale.

same - graph is purposefully exaggerated, but numerically and substantively correct

As do I. Let the numbers stand on their own, they tell the story without having to visually exaggerate them.
