They are independent of government and make decisions based on an interpretation of the law. The government has no influence on them. If they did, Rwanda would have been up and running under the Tories.

I can assure you, theres no way any sane person would argue that the equality act didn't know that trans people existed or that the gra existed, or previous laws protecting trans people existed, or argue the exceptions were to remove rights and segregate,if there wasn't huge political/media pressure

The court only ruled on the Equality Act. Last May the Tories tried to regulate toilet provision under EA, but failed when they lost the election. It was Labour’s EHRC (as they reappointed its chair) who declared EA applies. Before this toilets were not regulated by the Equality Act. Labour did that

Labour’s Equalities minister or their appointed chair of EHRC could have continued the status quo that bathrooms were not segregated by the exact definitions in the Equality act. Not only did they change that to cause trans discrimination, they cheered for it

Right, that’s my point. EHRC now claims they are and that they must be policed for sex-segregation or else they lose their status as a “single-sex” space under EA. EHRC signaled that they plan on hearing equality claims against workplaces and businesses without a women’s toilet that bans trans women

There was no law about toilets & the Supreme Court ruling should not have had any effect. The ruling was over a definition in one specific law, one that hadn’t covered toilets before. Labour’s EHRC did not need to provide “guidance”. By doing that, they’ve now applied new law where there was none.
