“When my daughter proposed watching ‘The Breakfast Club’ together, I had hesitated, not knowing how she would react,” Molly Ringwald wrote, in 2018. “But I hadn’t anticipated that it would ultimately be most troubling to me.”

This is a very good lesson in why not to watch movies with your teenager. Even if it was very good, and reflected the values of the future time they live in instead of the realities of the time it was made in, they'd find fault with it.
Which isn't to say that it didn't annoy me when it came out. But probably for different reasons, like making it seem that the nerdy girl needs a makeover, for one thing. But the music was good
It taught girls to NOT be themselves because they needed to change to be noticed. It said that the smart guy would ultimately do everyone’s homework anyway whether he was bullied into it or not. Jocks and popular girls could get away with not having to compromise to anyone.
It’s redeemable part was that it showed us that “that scuzzy druggy guy” probably had a lot more going on in his life than you could handle, and he wasn’t really that different from anyone else, he just had the weed they ALL wanted.
I wish they made a sequel that showed Monday morning.
