And it will be at a huge loss if history is anything to go by.
There are a lot of ways to store electrical energy as potential energy that we haven’t explored yet.

I’m not a fan simply because it’s way too expensive and takes way too long to build.

I’m mostly against it because Dutton has no intention of building a nuclear industry. He’s just delaying the inevitable transition to renewables for as long as he can to help his generous fossil fuel benefactors.

Just on that point, to guarantee any nuclear power plants aren't built by taxpayers then sold off a few yrs down the track, it would take a Referendum/Constitutional change

Normal legislation can just be changed

No one has mentioned Referendum & nuclear together

Renewables help balance inequality, nuclear helps entrench it

A diverse, competitive market= better products/services/price 4 consumers

I'd like to see a business case 4 nuclear, there's so much info flying about it's sometimes difficult to make sense of it all

IMHO if we can see the actual costs, timeframes, Budget measures, etc then it'll be easier to make an informed decision

Look at the cost and timeframes of construction (including the blowouts) in other countries for reference.
Ain't no way we could do it quicker and cheaper than anyone else.

There has never been a nuclear plant built on time and on budget anywhere in the world…you can blow out the cost and timeframes of any figures put forward by the LNP without stretching the bounds of credibility.

We need numbers- a business case, timeframes, KPIs, Budget measures

All ideas must be given the same chance to succeed, but they must come with details so that voters can make informed decisions

Convo with a farmer today who was just back from a rare expedition west of the ranges. Lifelong Nationals voter. Told me the ‘windmills don’t look too bad actually!’ And the farmers are paid well to host them on their land. It felt like his armour was chinked. Still loves bloody Barnaby though 🙄😂

Tipping point for most things is usually the bottom line, you can rail about the aesthetics and everything but farmers are smart, if they can make money out of it then that's a good thing

Australia has huge decentralised power now anyway. Central gen is done. Most ppl don't want it anyway. We don't want the bills for the poles and wires. Nor subsidising the obscene costs of central stations.
