Well they have valence, being conscientious, agreeable, open-minded, has a positive connotation, which implies that the polar opposites has a rather negative connotation, likewise it is rather negative to be described as neurotic.

That's even clearer when looking at facet level: warmth, assertiveness, achievement striving, positive emotions (!) are positively connoted facets, which means their polar opposite probably is not so positive, you'll notice that facets are defined as purely unipolar in the big 5...
Well the MBTI assessment is very flawed at a statistical level, but the Big 5 for all its rigour, will have a vibe of assessing whether you have the "right" or "wrong" personality, which, when considering how personality questionnaires are presented (no right or wrong answer), is quite hypocritical.
