2. While it’s true that her funeral was a one-hour flight away from the nearest embassy or consulate, it would have sent a profound message if a U.S. official had attended.

Now, if her family asked that no U.S. officials be present, that is their right, but if they didn’t, this would have been such an easy thing to do.
