You shouldn't invest your time into a game you know isn't for you just because everyone else is playing it or because it's popular.
Don't play anything you don't want to, much less spend your hard-earned money on it. Play what you like. As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.

it's insane how much time can pass when playing WoW sometimes
I played a bit like 15 years ago but only just started playing again and have like 100 hours on my main character
i feel like it took more than 100 hours to get max level back in the day (maybe i was just bad lol)
And now im just chilling around collecting outfits and mounts💅
