I'd started playing D&D near the end of 2nd edition, and kept at it well into 4th. Then finding a gaming group just started to be too hard. While I knew Pathfinder was a thing during some of this, it didn't really catch my interest until a few friends started streaming their campaign.

It was the OGL debacle. I was very impressed by Paizo's response and their willingness to work not just with the community but other game designers for the hobby. I gave 2e a try and really enjoyed the 3 action system and options in the rules to also help tell my character's story and I stayed!

years ago when I was a teenager, after summer camp I caught my eye on the Advanced Race Guide from 1E and I was hooked. Got every single major hardcover of 1E, working on collecting the 1E Adventure Paths, and I’m planning to get the 2E books soon!

It was kinda a domino effect in 2016. My friend wanted to set up a game and invited me and I always wanted to try D&D, then I saw the Humble Bundle for 1e that offered the first beginner box, and all that happening in the span of a month just made it click from there.

I was entranced by
1) The more concrete illusion mechanics in Pathfinder than what I was previously using.
2) Playable Crowpeople! The Tengu are such clever worldbuilding.
3) Playable Snakepeople that aren't just human-but-slit-pupil-draculae
Basically: Illusionist crows and snakes are viable

I was bored with the DnD 5e system (as a player) and really wanted to find something that was both intuitive and fun for me and my players. I love SMT and was trying to insert a press turn system, but it turns out that PF2e did it better with a great world and system to boot. I haven't looked back.

I had a 5e player that wanted to brew different drinks to give other players boosts. Reddit recommended stealling from PF's Alchemist. I decided to check it out, and was amazed at the options. Then, I checked out the rest of the system, and saw how well balanced things were. Never went back to 5e.
