Looks like it’s “on” by default on iPhone app.
Personally, I switched it to “oldest replies first”; not sure what the default was before this update.

Hot replies just sounds like most-liked replies showing up first. Not sure why that would be something to get worried about.

Because in reality i’m not actually worried & never claimed to be, I retained the reading comprehension to be able to see one of the other options is “most liked first”, and thus be able to deduce “hotness” is most likely to be of use to engagement-farmers and not most average users.

I had it set to 'latest' and it still shows that as my preference. Did some accounts not get set to 'hot' as default?

Just checked my settings and they're still set to newest posts first, so hats off to Bluesky for making it opt-in rather than opt-out.

On the web version mine was set to 'hotness' by default, so everyone should have a look at their settings and make sure.
