Another great movie about the region is Margaret’s Museum. The Maritimes (or broader, Atlantic Canada so add Come from Away) is a fairly small region, but with distinct cultural districts. It’s worth a leisurely visit. Many Stephen King movies are filmed here, too.

This photo looks familiar to me, spent summers as a child on family vacations there (loved the car ferry) stayed on a farm, a room in the main house or a cottage on the beach. Digging clams, riding ponies, playing in the ocean and sightseeing. Joys of childhood. + lobster rolls

It’s one of those places, even still for me. I felt the same when we visited the Western Isles in Scotland. Peace and calm, the best kind of vacation.

I just made arrangement to take the family to PEI this June. We spent one day there back in 2016, and it was one of the best days of our lives. This year, we are deliberately spending our American vacation dollars in Canada.
