One thing about being an artist and having artist friends is that you get a bit of an inner look about the art process of your friends, and what I keep coming back to is how y'all name your files, like, how are you going to find this drawing called "Pretty eyes" when you need it in 2 years???
Comments
Sure the names don't help in the long run but at least by date I can see when I did stuff and work out where should be when
I can’t tell you how many files are labeled “something_cool.wav” or “weird_jam.wav” or “trying_something_new.wav”
Like for my Flo drawings, I use "florentine_[drawing name/theme/title]_[month/day]_[year].clip"
Simple, easy, effective.
e.g.: drawingcharactermarch2024.png will not appear if you search for "character" because it doesn't start with that word
but drawing_character_march_2024.png will because the search term is isolated by underscores.
"title - oc owner/ fanart/ series the char is from" or anything like that
At the very least I folder my art by year lol.
I have an art folder
Fursona folder
Character folder.
Each one of them has the images inside year folders. If WIPs or alts exist, they get thrown into an "extras" folder named after the art.
“EDM thing 1, 2, 3”
“Electronic thing”
“so-and-so inspired thing”
1.clp 1_2.clp 1_5.clp etc
The folders are what I use to organise them.
i was naming them the date i created them in CSP, but since i switched to procreate i haven’t been good about naming them at all 😅
