I would start a radio station WLPC (we love Phil Collins) and it would be nothing but him, Genesis, Mike + The Mechanics, and Def Leppard ( Phil Collen is close enough in name…)
Some say ‘blessed’; others say ‘overexposed.’ He was the only one with an ego big enough to play Live Aid London, hop on a jet, and play Live Aid Philadelphia.
Folks a little older than us hate Phil because he supposedly ruined the Zeppelin reunion or just due to how overexposed he was but…the man just made hits!
Word. Three of the most talented musicians of their generation—all highly respected among their peers—and some ass hat who cries about Paul Westerberg not getting the attention he deserves, shits on them.
I was never a huge fan, but yeah, I'll confirm this. I often wonder how the younger generation would react if all of a sudden the only way to listen to music was on the radio or playing it on vinyl. And I often say the best thing about new tech is curated music and book streaming.
We listened to Collins but my dad was a huge Peter Gabriel fan, so a lot of the Phil Collins we listened to was just genesis after Gabriel left. Trick of the Tail is one of my all time favorite albums. I wore a cassette tape out that I still have in my walkman somewhere.
