I assumed they were leftist since we're on Bluesky, but they're arguments are the same as right-wingers, so there's no way to tell which side of the horseshoe they're on.
I have not opposed them spending on real charity. But a lot of these non profits are agencies to reduce taxes and many a time gaming them to hire their friends.
I don't condone the apple employees either but most of these non-profits definitely are not clean.
Are you claiming the directors at the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation are their friends? You think they gave $75 billion to the global poor to funnel $300k to their friends? You're not even trying to make sense.
Maybe my comment should have read
"yeah Apple fired a bunch of people for pulling a George Costanza but the there are these billionaires who do the same"
$75 billion would have fully eradicated homelessness in the US (750k homeless with $100k tiny home each)
Yes I personally know several foundations who mainly start off to save taxes and curry favor. B&M are no different (at least before the divorce)
(+ my earlier Festivus Human fund comment)
The Gates foundation works in poor countries because money goes much further. For every overpriced house you want to build, they can vaccinate hundreds if thousands of children from deadly diseases.
