It is untrue because the exact situation happened to former Senator Ensign in 2012 and the Senate Ethics Committee released their findings after he resigned.

I made my calls and spoke to actual humans, except for Guest, where I left a voicemail. It was an incredible experience and honestly the people who I spoke with were incredibly open and kind PLEASE MAKE THESE CALLS! THEY WANT TO HEAR FROM US!!!!
