I write “vergil” btw and funny enough I used to write “marc” until I’ve noticed a lot of ppl (including academics) go for “mark” so now I go for “mark”
Marc is by far no less right than mark but its the combo of the two thats odd. If you spell it marc might as well say marcus antonius. Whereas mark antony is fully anglicized, down to its spelling
I think “marc” is trying to capture a bit of the original name?? im not sure but marc antony is common enough that I still see it occasionally in books and such
