IT REALLY WORKS.
Recently bought a plate for the rucksack, and waw, it adds another dimension.
Certainly gets the heart rate up and works the legs a treat, can be a little uncomfortable on the shoulders, so a weighted vest sounds a better option.

Walking outside is ideal, but treadmill counts too.
Consider tracking your weekly McDonalds intake so you could systematically reduce the amount over time. Fill that void with whole foods and you'll be amazed how many health issues (major & minor) disappear.
