As soon as legacy media sees that the trail has been blazed for them by others and a market has been created, they will come because they follow trends, they don’t create them. So should we spent time begging them to grace us with their presence, or promote people who are already here crushing it?

Most (sane) people want FACTS
I'm old enough to remember not only when news was solidly fact-checked, but then dbl-checked before any reporter got on the air
Then, at the end of local news, there *occasionally* a short editorial where opinion was offered as that, an *opinion*
ugh🤢🤮
Like this platform you’re currently enjoying.
We should be able to connect to sources we often reference such as reddit, threads, and any deemed worthy by this media community.
Half the voters were deliberately misled, lied to, & fed GOP Poison & Russian propaganda
No one in corporate media called it out so we turned them off!
For that crowd, being informed was a badge of knowledge ... now it's the "I do my own research" crew with that badge, but it's crap
We need something more than just a different platform. We need a way to support good journalism that doesn't both-sides everything. But mostly, we need a way to fund journalism.
The goal should be to make this place better, not a mirror image of someplace else, right?
I am here for it
I still have it for those that have not migrated...yet... will be happy to say adios to the Musk conspiracy platform
On paper it makes sense but X, for all its faults, still feels much more dynamic than here.

If this place can grow and thrive, it'll beat out Twitter in spades because of its personal choice of what one sees.
I have wondered the same. The problem, as we know is that the news networks are in it to make money and not for the news. The rest of TV programming was supposed to support the news.

Akin to choosing a newspaper/s to buy. Not having all of them thrown at you (often with bile).
Choice is democracy.
The future of media is online, interactive content not just staring at a talking head on a screen
It's time to embrace the future of media
Are we in America going to be subjected to Government control of the News like in Russia, China & NK?
Not to be negative but people are gravitating to "talking heads" away from "walls of text". Interactive would be great, but folks already look for content to view not being challenged to participate.
Sell out
It perverts the traditional 4th Estate.
Journalism was an altruistic profession, not a road to riches.
We need to find a way to mainline and reward the journalists themselves for honest investigation
We need to empower people by teaching quickly.
- disinformation
- hostile foreign influence
- lies and projection
Do it here, but publish only verified news, via a pre-screen for veracity (versus after-the-fact crowd check).
Could employ lots of writers/fact-checkers.
We need a society we'll educated in truth
I'd imagine with President Elect Musk's new govt position, he'll have to let go of "new media" X. At least, in theory, in a non-corrupt world...
The written word takes space and attention span to deliver information.
Using a platform like this to target eyeballs will be growing for years.
It is a fledgling platform so I think it is not quite ready for monetisation at present.
As it grows those avenues for revenue can be explored. Until then BSky will need support from investors. Why not you?
@mcuban.bsky.social
Can more "objective shared reality" be reinserted for common good?
(Hostile) purchases of conservative AM, FM and local TV.
Takeover one or more con cable news outlets.
...
...
And to clearly identify and promote legitimate news sources (and yes they have to be the judge).
Buy BlueSky?
Somebody on the 'good rich' side has to counter the decades long acquisitions of local and national media by the Right.
I don't want to hear any more about 'fight', it's over unless we break up conservative media.
I catch @chrislhayes.bsky.social on the regular too.
I stopped watching Joe quite some time ago. He’s almost as insufferable as Chuck and Ari.

Con news already has overwhelming reach (ex: Fox 73%!) but they claim legacy media dominates. And now will buy MSNBC
Maybe even a pay-per-article for legacy media, as i don't need a subscription for an entire newspaper, but do find certain articles interesting to read.
I'm ready for something new by going back to the old. What I mean is going back to the kind of news Boomers grew up on. The kind
Back then there were no news outlets that made up their own stories and presented them as fact.
I'm not for moving backwards, but in this case it makes sense.
Set up a new NPR(TV) in Montreal and go 24/7 with unbiased news and info.
Maybe Gates, Soros, Buffett & yourself and a few others to keep it from becoming a Musk target
Maybe the solution is a variation of CBC/BBC offshore staffed with the best and supported by people like Gates
Now, some of them had an outsized opinion of my desire to read their article, but that’s another story.

Zeteo, Young Turks, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CBC, etc...?
A bargain for our democracy at $21 billion (particularly since Musk bought Twitter for $44 bn.)
to do that; people will sacrifice short term dollars. greed vs democracy.
that being said we need to find a way to fund investigate reporters; commentary isn't enough to save democracy.
And the personalities don't bother hiding their political bias anymore.
Don’t count us out though. We don’t all still use flip phones🤪
Legacy media has catered to that aging population without trying to draw in new veiwership from younger generations. The ratings will tank as they die off and we were never offered to take their place.

I haven’t trusted you. I wonder why you are pro-democracy. You’re rich. You’ll survive the next 4 years. Many of us won’t. Talk is cheap. Actions say more.
It's a big club & we ain't in it...
He was never going to use his own money anyway, so who would look at Twitter and finance this?!
if cnn was bout money, they’d fill the void. but they are just clicks for the oligarchy too.
i think her show is constructive not destructive and that's valuable to the discourse
i won't listen to just anybody
I worked the polls starting at 5:00 am, arrived home at 11:45 pm, and promptly turned on MSNBC. I was too tired to watch though.
I can get reactions on sm.
We are news STARVED
I watch golf and that includes the golf channel so I'm curious of what's going to happen 🤔
but something else I can stop using.

They have made it abundantly clear they have nothing of value to add.
I want one person sitting at the newsdesk screaming into the camera that shit is getting real, and
