Frankly, I find it hard to legitimize any spending towards magic for the foreseeable future because of decisions like this.

that is fair.
My understanding is this decision is more of an extremely bad timing outcome caused by larger restructuring of the process of invites being provided in which vml was a part of. And nothing to do with “current political nightmares” but also until we get some response or change etc

So i heard from a good source over on TikTok (@lyzeillecain) that this was a straggler program from other cuts made previously. I'm not saying it's good, but it doesn't seem like this was targeted elimination for any reason. It seems more like it was living off extensions that expired.

If this is true this honestly makes wotc look even worse because it means they had the opportunity to recognize the extreme targeting of trans people in the months leading up to the election and affirm their support by continuing to support the league, but they didn't, they made a choice

Indeed. It's decisions like this that make me not want to give them another dime for anything they make, either by going to their events or buying sealed product. I doubt I'm alone on that front either. All this does is make them appear to be bending the knee for a side that won't spare them.

There are proxies and if you want the feeling of opening booster packs and drafting you can make set cubes that will outlast even Wizards sealed product.

Drafting definitely is fun. I used to do it a lot before the cost just got to be too much for me. Maybe a Pauper cube is in the cards here. I know LRR has done many cubes of all types before, so perhaps I need to make one myself.
