One idea we teach young engineers is “Chesterton’s Fence,” which essentially says that before you destroy something, you have to understand exactly why it was built in the first place. Musk clearly doesn’t understand this, and so he can’t pass it on to the kids he’s put in charge of the bureaucracy.
