you should be able to so long as it is clearly not part of your address. You could also write on the back side of the envelope. It is common to write a "please do not bend" sort of message on the left or bottom edges of envelopes.

ok, cool! these are un-enveloped, but i did print a small drawing on the back of the last issue to the left of the address and it didn't seem to be a problem

I know they want 3/4” along the bottom edge clear so they can stamp that pink barcode on it. Otherwise I think you’re good.
