Nov. 23, 1924: Chicago arch-swindler Leo Koretz is arrested after nearly a year on the lam. The 45-year-old is found in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he had run with $2 million invested by dupes in a phony Panama oil company, and was living as "Lou Keyte." He agrees to extradition.
