Manhattan Plaza was ment to be housing for performing arts people!
Lots of actors, dancers, and others in the P.A.
I don't know if it still is, or if it went the way Stuyvesant and Cooper town went! Sold to greedy landlords/corporations!

Here's the clip that was circulating. If you're not from NYC Mitchell-Lama is a kind of affordable housing. It has both rental and co-op (think ownership) models. It was designed for middle income people.

It's interesting because Timothée is French-American, and a white New Yorker, and got famous doing an art house film I think he codes as rich to a lot of non-New Yorkers but his entire career is buyoyed by social programs. Not just housing. He went to Laguardia (public art school) for HS.

Born in the Big Apple in '95, Timothée grew up in a pretty artsy environment in Manhattan Plaza, Hell's Kitchen. His mom was a Broadway dancer turned real estate agent and his dad worked for UNICEF. So, not exactly Hollywood royalty, but definitely not struggling either.

I didn't say they were struggling. In fact I explicitly said that the housing was designed for middle income people. Which he was. And the reason middle income used to be able to survive in this city was because of programs like this.
