To be fair, with a decent employer, there's no need for most councillors to be full time. I was a councillor for six years yet continued in a full-time job. A decent employer will give you time off, sometimes paid, sometimes unpaid.

Indeed there isn’t. And technically employers have a statutory duty to give you time off for public duties - though I get very mixed reports on how well honoured that is.

Makes such a mockery of elected office and in reality could quickly become dangerous for those of us who have no choice but to rely on council services. Seeing reform candidates act like this really annoys me. Believe it or not but some of us stand & hope to improve things if we ever got that chance

I've interacted with Labour and Green councillos who are active in local events and community centres, who work hard for years. Never seen a Reform candidate at one. We get both at same events. Most councillors are great. Reform onwes can learn from them if minded how ro do the job.
