Been trying to convince my parents, in their eighties and disabled, to sponsor a live in caregiver. Not much interest til I suggested it might be a pathway to Canadian citizenship for some American trans/enby person. The best of the generation that was there for the draft dodgers knows what’s what.

Thank you for mentioning this. My American trans and queer friends are panic-filled. Many are activating family escape plans. Many more will not survive. Please, all of you, do what you can at a human level. We could be next here in Canada.

I agree with you. I do find it hard to recommend coming here with the Conservatives potentially on the horizon. I live in a very conservative town that went from being welcoming to being performative; I worry about the safety of my neighbours in the coming years.

A lot of us are disabled. Canada doesn't accept disabled immigrants outside of a few specific types of circumstances.
