The US remains the world's pre-eminent military and economic power. Whether it was ever a moral leader is another matter. It's always been "America First" - just not as blatant or ungracious.

US GDP is £27 tn, so their national debt is well over 140% and rising. Poor leadership, a suddenly fragile constitution, and uniting competitors against them.
I've actually raised the same concerns on debt/GDP but it seems there are economists who disagree. One thing is for sure, if America defaults on its debts the ripples will not be small. Lucky Trump has never... no.. wait...
It's only supportable because they're a reserve currency. And they're only a RC because the EU and China agree they are. If Trump causes trade wars that injure other currencies, it only takes half a dozen central banks to choose a different RC, and bingo: US default and economic collapse.
"No intention of intervening" Well, intervening in wars it doesn't consider its own. Does anyone seriously believe the US considers itself the guardian of peace in Europe? Their bases round the world serve US policy and aims, nobody else.
Agreed! It's always been like this just previously they dressed it up and hid it better. Now it's unbridled 'America 1st' to the point of imperialism, out in the open.

Economic? Shrinking share of the global pie, low manufacturing base, intentionally harming trade, and £38 TRILLION in debt.
The signs aren't great

I'm not saying the collapse isn't possible but I wouldn't put money on predicting it. Literally.
And like I said, if it comes it's gonna take a lot of people down with it, like, y'know, us.
