I'm getting a little tired of having the prosecutors be so closely tied to the defense. It worked for Edgeworth, Blackquill, and Gadot, but the others fell a little short. Klavier makes more sense as a rival to Phoenix than Apollo, considering how little we know of Apollo's relationship to Kristoph.
Franziska is fighting for herself and doesn't seem to care about Phoenix at all outside of the Edgeworth connection. Nayuta is fine on paper, but his (lack of) personality drags the whole thing down a bit.
Not saying these aren't enjoyable characters (I love Franziska), just plotwise are a letdown.
I much prefer how they handle van Zieks in GAA. Someone who is definitely tied to the main plot in some way, but not explicitly to Naruhodo's past. Granted, van Zeiks had the benefit of being the same prosecutor for 2 games in a row, which is an outlier, but maybe they should try it again?
After so many games of the defense knowing the prosecutors in some aspect, it would just be a nice change of pace if they were strangers whose personalities/ideals clash. Let them form connections rather than already be connected is my hot take I guess.
4-2 IS A GOOD CASE. I like how its started as random mishaps happening in town and then turning it into one full story. The kitakis and Eldoon have such good character design too.
Dee Vasquez breakdown is good. not every breakdown needs to be some looneytoons as shit.
Others: AA4 (Apollo's game) is consistently excellent except for the fact they had to eventually explain why Phoenix lost his badge and no explanation was ever going to be good enough.
Game 5 should've started with Trucy as the assistant and phased her out for Athena while Phoenix became Judge (2/4
The next 3 games in order should be AAI3, GAA3, THEN AA7. Need more Miles and Kay before anything.
And probably the most incindiary of takes: 1 Mayanix (counting game 6) 2 Feenris (trilogy only) 3 Wrightworth 4 Phoenoir (w/Thalassa). Miles is ace (and possibly aro) icon! (I say as an ace myself)
Edgeworth/Wright/Kristoph love/hate triangle is a real thing, I’m certain. Imagine the beef between Miles and Kristoph before 4-1, it would have been legendary.
I can’t get into playing the games myself. I got into ace attorney through Lets plays and the anime solely because I like seeing people put voices and personality to the characters. Visual novels don’t do it for me
Miles Edgeworth needs to be in the next Marvel Vs. Capcom with his Level 3 involving the summoning of a giant chess piece to crush his opponent's resolve from full-screen...
Shu Takumi needs to write a new type of case that isn't just a comentary on the lack of legal distinction between manslaughter and murder in japanese courtrooms
3-5’s ending kinda brings down the whole case for me. I didn’t think the culprit wasn’t properly foreshadowed throughout the case, and the reveal felt like it was pulled out of thin air. (Not gonna elaborate too much more cause of spoilers)
Keeping Phoenix in the series after Trials and Tribulations was a bad move for the series.
Man got a perfect ending to his character arc, and bringing him back just made the new attorneys feel lesser in every game since. Especially when he took back over as the main character.
I feel like I'm the only one in the world who actually likes 2-1. I find Wellington entertaining, the case introduces Maggey who is one of my favorite characters in the series, and while the amnesia bit is silly, it doesn't bother me that much.
I know this is a blasphemous thing to say to Crystaahl's community but....I couldn't get into The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles because I just couldn't stand Sholmes 💀
(Granted this was based on my initial impressions of him in case 2 and about half of case 3.. no idea if he gets more likable)
Some clarification. It really tests your suspension of disbelief at certain points but I think it still has great and funny ace attorney moments and people complaining about Turnabout Big Top before you even know what ace attorney is is not gonna help anyone see the good parts of it
The characters are annoying, they completely flanderized Larry, and there are like 10 different plotholes(if Atmey lied about being attacked by Mask Demaske, then why was the sword damaged?)
The crime DeLite was accused wasn't "being Mask DeMasque", it was "stealing the urn", he was not guilty in the trial of the urn, but there should've been a trial for the other things he stole
I know AA is pretty dumb sometimes, but there is a limit to everything

Also, more female prosecutors please.

like kidnapping maya and blackmailling pheonix is cheap and lazy in the wider picture of the series.
The whole pheonix vs Apollo feels like a marketing trick and nothing else.
Dhurke shouldve changed clothes cause hes a WANTED CRIMINAL
Game 5 should've started with Trucy as the assistant and phased her out for Athena while Phoenix became Judge (2/4
We were robbed of the greatest line in AA history in GAA2's English release (juror 3 in case 2 asking to be stepped on by a woman's steel heel) (3/4)

Edgeworth still best prosecutor though.

Also, the last Cross Examination is really unfair
