The solution is more longterm: a permanent boycott on the companies that are causing or permitting the current problems we face. But you can’t expect people to do that instantly; they need to teach themselves that they can do this over time.
The one day boycott is kind of like running 200 yards to prep for a marathon. You start slow. You find alternative sources for your products. You realize you can leave behind corporations that use their profits to hurt you more financially.
As for conservatives, many wish to spite liberals. But even they cannot combat the overall economic numbers, which show a massive slowdown. A lot of business executives are very concerned now.

From comments I read it sounds like it depended on the community. And I’m sure many conservatives did shop that day to try and lessen the impact.
I wonder if they'd purposely shop if it was a once (or more) monthly event?
Would they potentially put themselves into debt?
