He is not apologising for the harm he has caused me or the damage he has caused to the rail industry's public reputation.

I still don't have a job, because he had me sacked at a time when roles in rail engineering are few and far between, and because his act has made potential employers wary.

He's apologising for the bit that could get him the sack, but sadly not his unethical behaviour that got him to that point. I'm actually surprised he issued an open apology at all so I'd count that as a mini-victory!

Yes it is very disappointing story and I am really sorry that it has left you without your job. The (very) recent changes to Euston waiting arrangements may have helped a little with over-crowding but it really does feel like your whistleblowing on this issue is a big reason behind those changes.

Can't believe how two faced it is to not give a frank apology while in the same article it acknowledges that concerns about overcrowding (ones the government's own body had previously raised!) are having to be urgently addressed. Disgraceful.
