I can objectively appreciate the skill & magic of combining ingredients/disparate things together to make a cohesive and appetizing meal/dish but personally, cooking has *zero* appeal as it seems like a fuckton of prep, work, & time spent just to eat it in the end & not equal to the effort expended

Plus way healthier than premade stuff (even if I do have a bit of a cup raman habit).
It probably sounds dopey but making people I care for food is how I know I contribute to their basic needs and taking care of them.
I understand the zero appeal so I’d never expect it in return.
Me with my friends or family around: here's a three course meal of home cooked comfort food perfectly made.
Although my go to used to be uncooked Maruchan Chicken Ramen, broken up and covered in flavor packet dust.
cooking is a social activity. culture was born as ancient humans circled the fire.
so get friends over! drink wine, play records and shoot the shit as group energy builds towards eating. feel cosy togetherness. good dinners are primal bonding with a happy release of psychic tension.
fwiw, i gotta have the radio on when i peel garlic, chop carrots and so on. it changes the whole vibe. live radio + internet is amazing. you can pull in sounds from different times of day and different seasons, in real time.
Phew 13 yrs sober. Never again. Food yes, wine no. 😀
At one point my standard work night dinner was instant rice, frozen mixed veggies, and canned beans microwaved and then topped with a dab of bottled salad dressing.
Freeze some of it.
Also, home cooking puts low paid workers out of jobs.
Bring on the little food tablet that U just swallow.
Then back to work slaves lol 😜😜
