There are sides and yes, I am willing to pay more taxes for free school meals, more homeless programs and alike.

Addressing wealth inequality would not automatically address the needs of ex. the black community. You can do both so there is no reason not to.

That's because in this country it has worked. The fourth estate has failed us and class consciousness doesn't resonate. Why? The American dream that someday you or your kid will be a gazillionaire. So people vote with the someday mindset.

I don't think the fourth estate failed us exactly. I think they were intentionally bought out gradually starting with the smallest presses and broadcasting markets and working up to WSJ and Washington Post.

I think all of this happened gradually over time. Once upon a time, anyone could rise to wealth. People acquired stuff, some got in trouble, wealthy bought these things, rinse and repeat. Wealth accrued to fewer and fewer and they bought the media and politicians and rigged the system

Oh, I believe it was intentional. I also believe that cable news and internet journalists hastened the process. I'm also blaming every journalist who a) doesn't speak out or b) did a profile of rural voters and how they exemplify American values. Where is the program of big city voters?
