I have a script that I run every day before I open any document. It copies all the documents I’m working with into a folder and prepends the current date. Worst case I lose one days worth of work.

Sounds like an excellent system. I’m usually only working with one document so I just do a manual save with the date when I start work.

I have my script, a document of notes that I use to keep track of details (close to 100 pages now). I have a document with quick scribbles that I did it cut soon place. And I have a varying number of excel docs that I use to keep track of plot lines and timelines and such.

Every day I work on a document I use save as and increment the file name numerically. It means I can always go back, and text documents take up minimal space.

Same, using YYYY-MM-DD date instead of numbering. At most I lose a day, but inevitably it seems to go sideways when I stand to lose a really long and productive day 😂. This time I was able to find the problem in xml and fix it, at least!

I’m way too lazy to track the date. But well done on that fix. I have Time Machine backups, so I’m fairly safe for during the day errors as well.
