It's fun world building, but you don't *need* to. If a concept from the prelude shows up in the main season it will usually be explained as it comes up.

Truly optional! We're really proud of the prelude and think there's a lot of fun stuff in there, but it isn't character driven in the way that people usually enjoy with AP, so we're pointing people to Perpetua 01 as the true start of the season
