Lawmakers fought child poverty during Covid by funding child care, freezing student loans, and giving families food. All three of those programs end Oct. 1, leaving some families worse off than pre-Covid.

Universal child care scores very well for this, women earn much more and child care sector grows.
Most people have kids because they want to spend time with them-it's a better world if you can stay home instead of handing off your baby and clocking in.
Kind of impossible then to measure the economics-need to be paid to watch others kids but gladly pay to spend time w/their own. Non parents e.g. retired grandparents also pay a big part.

3. Student loan pause just ended
4. Rent, utilities all still at record highs
