See, I’m glad you get it. Korra is by no means perfect but her arc throughout the series is something special cuz she’s literally learning as she goes.

It’s why she made so many mistakes and struggles to accept failure.

S2 does continue that, but it’s admittedly the weakest of said arc for her for roughly half of the season. Once you get to the “first avatar” 2 part arc, you’ll understand.

All the stuff she thought she could half-ass because she was so good at everything else suddenly becomes important. The fact that she was so sheltered because of a well-intentioned attempt to protect her keeps biting her in the butt. She's the gifted kid going to college for the first time

Suddenly she needs to learn not just how to work, but how to fail. And I think it's really cool foreshadowing that even though she's from the water bending tribe, she relies on fire and earth bending because the previous series established that those elements are fueled by passion and determination

Whereas water and air bending are about learning to accept not everything is within your control, and to go with the flow, which are not things easy for Korra to accept. It's why she could only touch into the spiritual side when she finally let herself be vulnerable and emotional

But I also like her relationship with Tenzen, because you see they both grow from getting to know each other. Tenzen has the awesome responsibility to keep his culture alive, and while he is an air bender, he is incredibly unyielding because of that desperation to hold into tradition
