This Canadian would join the EU in a heartbeat. At the very least we need to collaborate with our EU Allies more closely on trade and security.

We have more in common with European values than the shit show happening south of us.

It wouldn’t be easy. There would be issues about adopting the Euro as well as EU regulations and taxation.

Full membership is a pipe dream, but I still think it would be worth it to get out under the thumb of a US actively doing us harm. But I’m all for closer trade and security arrangements.

You'd gain more than those fees from the reduced trade costs of the single market and customs union. And projects such as Horizon research funds, regional development grants, shared standards etc

Sounds good. I would argue that as Canada is also part of the Commonwealth it would be good to strengthen the trading relationships within that body as wealth. Maybe even develop Commonwealth/European trading block.
