It’s a very good piece and the Nicol/Robbo thing is a very good debate and as someone who’s seemingly of a similar vintage, I just go for Robbo. In Nicol’s defence, was he not a right back shifted onto the left ? Whatever, Stevie Nicol was The Business.

Also though, I know Lawro is mentioned as an aside here, but it’s high time there was a re-evaluation of just how brilliant he was for Liverpool; could do it all. The fact that he’s been a bit of a tit since should not diminish that

I believe Robbo would be still OK if he had a proper rotation option so that he could rest. Don’t forget, he plays internationals etc. as well and has not had a decent break for years.

Will always love Robbo, he gives his all for the team and people forget his experience is just important off the pitch as well as on. It was only a few days ago he was POTM. He’s had a few unfortunate situations of late but what player doesn’t that happen to at some stage 🤷‍♀️ he’ll bounce back 💪❤️

Robbo is definitely great, people are too quick to write players off, sometimes have to be careful what they wish for, although I’d not be adverse to a younger back up to learn from him

I think this is a very fair assessment, tbh. Undoubtedly, Robbo needs rest in his dotage (😂), but he proved against Real & City that if he's at his best, he's still our best LB for me. We need a younger LB who we can bring through & blend in yes, but he's not done yet, IMO.
