what Desktop Environment are you using? Cinnamon? KDE? what browser are you using? Gonna take a stab in the dark and say Firefox? is it crashing the entire system or just the browser

You're correct I am using Firefox and it crashes entire system. I had no problems until the updates for Linux and Firefox were installed. My computer knowledge is lacking ,so all I can tell Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia.
no worries, I think I ran into this problem before. open a terminal and copy and paste this in sudo apt-get purge firefox* sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean
then once that's done in the terminal put sudo apt-get install firefox
also are you running any extensions/addons with firefox? try disabling them all and see if it still crashes. if not re-add each extension one by one to see if there's one that's causing the crash.
Thank you for your help but since I don't know what you are talking about I decided to copy & paste what the terminology you suggested to find out what it means, however trying copy your comment it crashed my laptop:( So I wrote what you suggested down and will try it ..
oh wow that's super borked. yeah I searched online for other possible reasons and the common consensus from mint forums was "reinstall the OS". likely something went wrong with the upgrade. another issue could be the swap file/partition but that might be out of your ballpark.
Thank you so much for your help. Since you told me what the problem might be I contacted my son& told him what you said.. he walked me through a bunch of steps & figured like you somethings didn't upgrade correctly.Later today he is going to remotely access my laptop & try to fix it.:)
