The switch was widely loved, despite obvious graphical shortcomings. Addressing some of that and making other incremental improvements isn’t “not innovative”. The unimpressed are likely not the target audience for a switch successor

For me, it's just a boring announcement. Every old nintendo console kind of had a thing that made it feel fun and exciting. This is just another switch though. Maybe the direct will be more fun though.

Miyamoto is unlikely, I'd say. Busy with movies/park. Expect it to be more focused on games/the switch than a presenter, as has been the case for directs for a while now.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what they were expecting? All the announcements and reveals, I guess? But that clearly wasn't Nintendo's plan, not for another for a few more months.

Dead. Old Nintendo is dead, and the leaks have killed them. There were swatches if articles detailing Nintendo lamenting they were deprived of their element of surprise because of leaks. Though, we could call it karmic justice.
