It’s his best performance hands down. I was even more astonished that it was an original screenplay by PTA, it’s so immersed in such a particular place and time that’s so remote and strange.

I've heard it a lot of interviews that PTA and DDL worked on it together to some degree. In one in particular PTA thinks DDL should've had a writing credit on the film.

But who knows. He goes deep when he researches and preps for a role, so I'm sure they stumbled on some amazing stuff together.
Funny sidebar - When I get a cranky and particular, my partner calls me "Phantom" in reference to the film and the "conflict at breakfast" scene.
