It’s the bigger problem of a party that stands for nothing. Ideology, like caring enough to take over your campus or shutdown a freeway is seen as undignified. Lack of vision can’t be fixed by DNC Chair, but imagine Ben in that role in 2009 when OFA’s list went to DNC. Would have actually organized.

That's a smart comment. Fwiw: I think we're struggling with strategy (what's the fundamental collation? What's our overall position etc), tactics (how do we win) and personnel (do we have the politicians who can execute tactics to achieve strategic goals)? I think we struggle with all 3..(1/2)

But the DNC chair--at least as currently set up--is, at best, able to help with tactics, and even those only in a current paradigm. So, sure, can we arrange the lifeboats better? Yes. Is that all that's needed? Absolutely not. Im not even sure if it's sufficient in the short term...(2/2)

Your insight here is a critical one.

GOP’s strength is lack of diversity: they have shallow, fear based, nasty aims, but they are all on the same side for getting it done and thus are effective in doing it.

Dems strength has always been our diversity. And in a functioning environment, this would accrue to the good of all involved, but the tent is too big to be effective in a pitched battle against a very focused opponent.

My current hope is that somebody with a voice and visibility, can be “arrogant“ enough to establish a MINIMUM code of Democratic, center left values, get everybody on board with at least just that, and focus the entire big tent on countering just one GOP effort at a time.

I like my democratic cats, but they are all over the place and very hard to herd. But we could be quite effective (and we want to be effective!)If only somebody will get everybody on the same page, marching in the same direction.
