I do love being a United Methodist, although I struggle with progressive (not that I'm conservative by any means!) I wish there was a different term because progressive has come to mean something different and maybe less radical.

🤷🏻‍♀️ In my world, progressive means neither fence-riding milquetoast moderate nor conservative. Ideally aligned with feminist, egalitarian, affirming, racial justice, disability rights, etc theology without pearl clutching over "but I'm not a liberal! Look at my credentials! Both sides! Don't worry!"

I think if you resonate more with UM Church and Society and the National Mall sign than the Purple Church broad tent "let's all get along and not talk about controversy" side of the UMC, that's what I mean by progressive Methodist, fwiw.
