Practical effects rock when done right. Yes this looks a little rushed but this is a WEEKLY SERIES. They do not get a year to set up the special effects for a 2 hour thing. This is still incredible and the best part, it is weekly. Tokusatou is an incredible thing I am glad still is around

Honestly, like in terms of actual cost, I'm sure this is super expensive to do. Especially because you need to both get as many shots as you can of it *and* prepare for any retakes if something goes wrong.

But the things that drive that cost are all *conceivable*. -->

It's all "so we built these wooden buildings and we got these model cars and we glued fake grass down on this hillside we carved out of foam" and you can straightforwardly picture all of it being done, and which brings the costs in our heads down to numbers we can conceive as well.

Meanwhile CGI is so misunderstood, so not even *tried* to be understood, that it feels like people treat it as a magic box you just shove Money at and then Movie Stuff comes out. And that makes anything that they think they could do, or even People could do, feel cheaper. Because it's not magic.
